Artist Statement
We live in this opulent landscape immortalized by the Hudson River School painters, containing
mills and factories abandoned in the aftermath of waning industrialization and the turmoil of
increasing rents and gentrification. I’m interested in these incongruities, and often render
portions of Hudson River School paintings, while including contemporary convenience store
inspired imagery. The interplay of these images suggests the visual confusion found in our information saturated world.
