Artist Statement

I have been painting since I was four years old- that’s when I had a vivid, Technicolor dream of a little bird that had fallen from a tree full of tropical flowers. I painted it with a borrowed little metal box that had little dried up squares of dull colors, now I have large bottles of bright paints all my own.

I’m now 90 and would never have guessed that painting would be the only stable thing in my life for the past 82 years. My life has been interrupted by WWII, the Cuban Revolution, two husbands (one crazy), and three children- The miracle was that I painted and exhibited!
